volcanoes

Volcanoes

They happen when pressure builds up inside the earth causing hot molten rock from earth’s mantle to push through the surface. Volcanoes are so powerful that large eruptions can oven effect the climate on a global scale.
When Mount Pinatubo erupted in 1991, so much ash was thrown up into the atmosphere that the clouds blocked out the sun rays and lowered the global temperature by one degree Celsius for several months.
The simplest is a cinder cone formed when ash is in cinders; when ashes and cinders are blown out of a single vent quickly form a small cone-shaped mountain.
Similar to the cinder cone is the composite or strato volcano. Strato’s form at convergent plate boundaries, where one plate is pushed under or sub ducted under the other, the sub ducted plate melts into the magma, which is up forced up to the surface through multiple cracks, or vents in the crust the lava from a strato volcano, is very thick and slow moving. The viscous lava hardens inside the vent, and pockets of gas get trapped inside causing mudslides and mounds of molten ash called pyrocalastic flows.
Lava and ash pour out of the crater and solidify to form a steep sided cone that gets bigger and steeper after each eruption.
This is what when learnt on volcanoes in science class.

words to know about volcanoes

Words to know about volcanoes

Crust = Thin semi-rigid outer surface of planet earth.
Mantle = Semi-molten region of rock beneath the crust.
Convection Current = Movement in liquid or gas due to heating.
Core = Solid centre of the earth.
Tectonic plates = Defined area of crust that moves as a whole.
Erosion Cycle = Break-up, transport and deposition of rock material.
Weathering = The breakdown of rock due to physical and chemical reactions.
Meteorite = Rock from space that hits the planets surface.
Glacier = River of solid water, as the huge mass slowly moves forward under the force of gravity.
Lava = Liquid rock (magma) that flows from volcano.

Explosive and gentle eruptions

Explosive and gentle eruptions

Explosive volcanoes usually have thick viscous magma, which comes from melted crust or from the mantle. The slow-flowing magma often solidifies and blocks the vent. The pressure builds up beneath the vent because of heating and gas expansion. Eventually it blows out the solidified rock in an explosion.
Gassy lava froths out of vents and hurtles down the steep volcanic slopes as clouds of molten ash engulfing everything in its path.
Dense clouds of hot ash and gases rise up into the atmosphere. Winds spread ash over large areas, killing plant and animal life. The clouds contain steam, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide gases which add to atmosphere pollution.
Blobs of lava are often thrown up into the air by the explosion. They are called lava bombs and some cool into tear-drop shaped rocks.
Lahar (mudflows) occurs when ice on the slopes of a volcano melts and muddy slush is swept down the valleys.
Volcanoes that erupt gently ooze steams of runny, red-hot basalt lava. This lava spreads out across the landscape at speeds of up to 50km/hr.
Basalt magma comes from melted mantle rock deep inside earth as it is less viscous this type of magma does not tend to block volcano vents causing large explosions. Basalt lava volcanoes do have smaller volcanic explosions that may eject red hot lava bombs.

Earthquakes

Earthquakes:

Earthquakes waves rapidly transport energy away from the focus, radiating out like ripples in a pond when a stone is thrown in, three important types of waves and they travel and different speeds.

First come the primary or compression P-wave. These squeeze the stretch the rock as they pass through at about 8kms-1.
Next come the secondary or shearing S-waves which make the crust shake side ways and up and down as they radiate at about 5kms-1. Liquids absorb S-waves.
The last waves to be felt are the L-waves which travel about 4kms-1 they cause the most damage because they only travel near the surface of the crust. Depending on the nature of the crust, L-waves can make the ground roll like and ocean beneath your feet.

Maori legend of Mt Egmont

Maori legend of Mt Egmont

Long, long ago there was a mighty, battle between Tongariro and Taranaki over Pihanga, the rounded eastern buttress of the kakaramea range (and once also a active volcano). Taranaki, the loser was forced to leave in order that peace be restored. Wild with grief ad anger he plunged towards the setting sun tearing a long deep wound in the earth behind him. A stream of water sprang from the side of Tongariro to heal the wound and now a green forest grows in the valley of the Whangnui River.

Build up expand change sound and look.

READ ALOUD – THE SOUND
Sound natural does it flow what changes are made.

REWRITE. THEN REWRITE AGAIN – THE FURY
Addons and certain actions

my monolouge

Monologue:

I had done it!
The flowing music of the last gymnast stopped and the faint blep of the electronic board signaled the score was up.
I had been to tournaments before and got gold, but they didn’t matter now, this was the Olympics and bringing back the goal for Russia was all that was important.
I gathered my courage, to lift my head, which for some reason felt as heavy as a stone slowly I glanced towards the board but before I could deceiver the numbers written on it my coach Vera was up and cheering.
Had I done it!
I wasn’t really sure on what had happened until she screamed we had done it and soon we were up and cheering together.
The next thing I new I was standing proud and tall on the podium, I sung along to my national anthem with tears in my eyes and a gold around my neck, I had done it I was bring back gold for Russia for my country they would be proud.
I had done it!

Speech

My speech:

My Speech is on a girl who in December and January of 2006, had surgery to cut a 10kg tumor off her face, she was fourteen years old!
Marlie Casseus developed a lump on the side of her cheek at the age of eight, eventually this tumor spread over her entire face stopping her from eating, talking as well as making her go blind and deaf.
When Marlie Casseus was born in Haiti she was completely normal but around the age of two when most children started to talk Marlie did not.
At the eight Marlies mother noticed a lump on her left cheek, but it was so small at that point Marlies mother did not think she needed to see a doctor.
The lump grew bigger and bigger and not only did Marlies face become lopsided but many of her left teeth fell out.
Over the next few years the growth became huge. I spread under the skin of Marlies mouth, cheek bone, nose and left eye.
When Marlie was 12 her and her mother took a long bus ride out to a rural town to see some doctors visiting from France, Marlies mother hoped they would be able to help Marlie but these doctors never showed up.
Many of the hospitals and clinics Marlies mother went to could not do anything to help Marlies condition and her mother was told to focus on her other children because there was no hope for Marlie for she wouldn’t live much longer.
To make things worst for Marlie children and adults alike would point and laugh when they saw her, and in the end Marlies father took down all the mirrors in the house.
In 2005 Marlies father saw twin sisters who ran a non-profit organization that helps poor Haitian children. When they came to visit Marlie they offered to pay for Marlie and her mother to go to America and get the medical care she deserved and needed.
When Marlie and her mother got to Miami the doctors diagnosed her with a rare disease called polyostaric fibrous dysplasia, which was the cause of the bones in Marlies face to swell and become jelly like.
In December and January of 2006 Marlie Cassous had surgery to cut off the 10kg tumor that had been growing on her face for six year, since then Marlie has three more surgeries to reconstured her face.
Although Maries face is still distorted she no longer see the reason to hide from people anymore. This is something we can all learn from Marlie that as long as your happy with yourself know one else’s opinion should matter.

my views on the day after tomorrow

The film the day after tomorrow is about (I feel) the way the world will change, if we don’t do something about it now.
In the film it shows the world creating storms and other natural disasters in order to get its self back into balance, because of all our emissions at the start a professor and his team try to tell people about how the world would change if they didn’t start doing something about it soon like recycling, to help get the world back in balance.
I also think its about how fast it could happen over 6-8 weeks was when it was predicted in the movie, when it was thought to be over 100yrs down the track and over a time frame of 6-8 months. This tells us we never know when it could happen so we should do something about it now while we have the chance.
It also shows different reactions of people could have if the disaster was to happen in this life-time.

Beijing Olympics

The Beijing Olympics:

The Beijing Olympics started with a bang as the birds nest was on the lit on fire with a fantastic display of culture and heritage.
The ceremony had a range of diversity with the children representing all of Chinas ethnic groups and there custom dress wear.
It was like magic as those huge computer generated feet made there way though the city towards the stadium it was a pleasure to watch.
The games themselves are amazing and the areas lakes and pools that China has designed and made enchanting to watch athletes compete in as I hear the white water rafting course is the hardest in the world China has done a lot to make the athletes feel safe and made huge effort to diminish the smog and air pollution, it shows the world that china is most honored to host the Olympics.

So far ive worked two weeks.

my sister

My sister Bridget.
Sometimes I call her maggot.
Sometimes I call her ape.
But when you really think
She is really great.

She’s annoying and she’s monstrous.
She’s loud and she’s ruff.
But if you really need her.
She’ll be there in a puff.

She’s fun and lighthearted.
She’s full of laughter and joy.
She’s energetic and exciting.
Even when she creates a ploy.

Renovations

This holiday we have made heaps of renovations too the bottom half of our house. In the garage and my bedroom mostly. My parents have extended my room and had a wardrobe built in, they plan to paint it soon. As for the garage the are converting it into another room, and they have added in a ranch slider. We are also carpeting the whole of the downstairs and the lounge as well.
My sisters room is going to be made a study and she is moving to the room next to mine, all of this is really exciting and I can’t wait till its finished.

twilight

This year I am involved in a twilight netball team my dad is the coach and my team mates include me my sister Alisha, Erica, Jess, Miti, Michaela and Adele it should be fun. But we have a bye for the first game so we are going to use the time for a extra training session which should be interesting seeing as last year we had to get the whole team across the basket-ball court with only four planks of wood (About a meter and a half long and a width of about 10cm) and no one was aloud to touch the ground and dad was being annoying and throwing netballs at us to make it harder. After the third try we did it, this help us to work together as a team.

Magnetism

22/08/08
Some points on Magnetism.
Some objects attract iron or steel are call magnets.

A magnet has a magnetic force field around it.

The force is either a push or a pull.

The force field is concentrated around the poles.

There are north and south poles.

The law of magnetism states that unlike poles will attract and like poles will repel.

When current flows through a conductor it creates a electromagnetic force field.

Human rights cannot exist without resonsibilities

Human rights cannot exist without responsibilities.
In this essay I hope to explain why I believe Human rights cannot exist without responsibilities. I describe why rights are important, also what kind of responsibilities there are, and why human rights themselves can’t exist without these responsibilities.

For starters rights are important! They allow people to live without being discriminated for there religion, race or colour, these rights also ensure that people can live safely in the community without fear of becoming victim of major or minor crimes. Without rights the world would be chaos and many a peoples lives and pride would be diminished, this is why responsibilities are also important because they make sure that the rights of the people are followed through.

There are many different types of responsibilities nearly all of these are in the form of jobs and the other small majority is entrusted with the people of the community in the hope that the do the right thing. With rights such as everyone has the right to an education, the responsibilities of this right is in a form of a job such as a teacher, this right also gives an additional responsibility one that is entrusted to the community to make sure there children go to school to get there free education.

Human rights themselves cannot exist without these responsibilities because to every person’s right there must be another person to fill out the responsibility, if they don’t have that responsibility, the right would not be enforced, and therefore there would be no right. Many of the rights that are evolved in the declaration of rights included more than one or two groups or sides of people, all have rights and responsibilities to one another, either it be to there own side or to there opposition.

In conclusion I hope I have given you some detail on why I believe rights would not exist with out responsibilities. I have explained why rights are important, also what kind of responsibilities there are, and why human rights themselves can’t exist without these responsibilities. And hope that now you to share the same thoughts.

The patriot

The Patriot is a movie based on an American war against the British soldiers the Red coats.
It follows the story of a farmer and his seven children, as he becomes the leader of the milisha, after his second eldest son was shot in the back by a British officer (this actor was the same actor that played Draco Malfoys farther in Harry Potter)
He goes forth to get his revenge, by hiding and killing all the unsuspecting soldiers, but after his eldest son is killed by the same British solider (this actor was the same actor that played Draco Malfoys farther in Harry Potter) He agreed to fight on a battle field where he deliberately sets out to find the man who killed two of his sons.
At the end of this movie England surrenders.

The reptile room

The reptile room carries on the horrific tale of Violet, Klaus and Sunny, as they move into there new home with there new guardian named Montgomery Montgomery but they just call him Uncle Monty.
Just as the children feel as if there misery may have past the most unpleasant person of all turns up just to spoil it all, and who knows what he has install for the children this time and what nasty criminal acts is going to commit to get what he wants.
Can the children again pull the wool over his eyes? I guess you’ll have to wait and see what horrors lemony Snicket can stuff into the seconded book of a series of unfortunate events the reptile room.

driving lessons

Today my dad took me on my second driving lesson, he was teaching me to turn tight corners and still stay on the left-hand side of the road. It was hard, because the tight turn we were using, was down hill so there were all these thing that needed to be taken in, in a split second. But in the end I was able to do it even if I did hit the curb and then lost control of the car. I still got round the turn with of going on to the left-hand side and that was what I was trying to do. (Neither the curb nor the car were effected although dads bravery to get in a car with me may be some what permanently damaged.)

The bad beginning

The bad beginning is the first in the series of unfortunate events, by Lemony Snicket. The story follows three children Violet, Klaus and Sunny, orphaned after there mansion was burned to the ground. These three unlucky children were sent to live with there very distant uncle, count Olaf, who wants there fortune all to himself and has many disastrous plans install for them. Though these children are talented and there skills are put to the test, to protect themselves and there enormous fortune.

the philosopher’s stone

Harry potter and the philosopher’s stone by J.K Rowling, to me is probably the most famous book in the entire world, and I can only hope many people have read it.
It contains many mystical creatures and a bigger idea of what a world full of witches and wizards could be like.
This book starts off with just an ordinary boy, in a family where he feels despised and unloved, then out of the blue a letter arrives and hurry’s whole life is changed as he realizes he is apart of a fantastic magical world, but to every upside there is a downside and this ones name is VOLDEMORT!

joke

An old couple walked into a fast food cafe and ordered 1 burger, 1 drink and 1 regular chips.
When they sat down the woman pulls out a knife and cut the burger in half while she’s doing this the old man counts up and divides the chips equally.
The old man takes a bit of his burger eats a chip then takes a sip of drink.
The old woman just takes a sip of drink then the process is repeated.
A man sitting a table away sees this and walks over and offers to by them another meal, and the old man says “it’s O.K we always share every thing”
So they carried on with this process, till the man again goes back and says
“Really it’s no problem I can buy you another meal.”
And the woman says “No thanks it’s O.K we share everything”
Then the man says “Well so far he’s the only one who’s eating anything”
The old woman says “Well of course I waiting for the teeth.”

dreaming

There I was, in the dark, how I got there would be news to me, the hair on the bak of my neck stuck up, my whole body began to shudder, there was something there in the darkness and I didn’t like what it was.
There was a sound up ahead of a door slowly creaking to a open position.
What ever that thing was, was coming closer as chills were sent on after the other down my spine. I squeezed my eyes tight shut, just hoping that if I couldn’t see it maybe, just maybe it wouldn’t see me.
CLICK! A light flicked on, my eyes flung open the thing was just my mother waking me. I sighed with relief wondering what I would have for breakfast.

petals in the wind

The sequel to my favorite book (flowers in the attic) is petals in the wind; it carries on the tragic tale of 4 children (Chris, Cathy, Carrie and Cory) after they escaped from the creepy airless attic that they were held prisoners in for just over 3 years. The story goes on as they reach and grasp there dreams, but the memories f the past continue to haunt them and they want revenge, revenge on there mother and there grandmother the two very woman who stole away there childhood and the life of there youngest brother. Will there plan work or will the tragedies in there families grow.

to all drivers

Hello there now I know that all too soon many of us in our class we be looking forward to the rather nerve racking experience that is driving. So I put together this blog full of some helpful tips that I have found while beginning to learn.
1) This is the first and proberly the most important rule of driving you will ever learn, and this is KEEP TO THE LEFT hand side of the road, (very important well that’s what I’ve found.)
2) Make sure you always indicate where you’re going (E.G if you’re taking a turn off the motorway.)
3) Hazards: these can be permanent or temporary. Permanent signs are colored yellow and black and temporary signs are colored orange and black.
4) When going straight through an intersection, you must give way to: all vehicles coming straight through from your right.
5) When turning left at an intersection, you must give way to: All vehicles coming straight through from your right.
: All vehicles coming towards you and turning right.
This information was read from the official New Zealand road code for car drivers 2005 edition (some of it may have changed)
Good luck to all those taking the test.

the bull

The men, who had hired me, were stationed by the edge of the channel. All 3 faces covered in a smirk.
I was on the wharf, standing in my togs.
A man came down the drive, he was directing a lorry, it parked with its back to the wharf.
By now a crowd had gathered
My employers opened the lorry door. I began to panicked they had tricked me,a mad raging bull charged towards me!
I was shocked.
I felt my only escape would be off the wharf.
So I jumped.
It didn’t work the bull was following as feet tips touched the ice-cold watter the bull was upon me.

personification

Today was an important day, today was the day that I would make my speech. I waltzed out of my room and laughed as the wild rugged wind howled spookily, for today nothing would stamp out my confidence.
The time to leave drew nearer, and my shoes were becoming tricky to put on as my hands shook so much, thou they were soon forced to hug my feet.
I left the house and the trees immediately started to whisper as loud as they could, and the rain began to patter down, all I had to do was kept my on the lolly that would be my prize at the end.

death

Maybe it isn’t true.
Maybe it’s a lie.
Yes a lie this cant of happened not to me, not to dad. He wasn’t doing anything wrong.
My heart feels so hollow; I can feel the echo of my breathing.
I realize what heartache feels like and I don’t like it!
The feeling there is something missing, something you’ve forgotten, and if you had remembered it you could of prevented what had happened.
I fell like the whole world should stop just so they can grieve with me but I no that in reality it will never happen.
Crying and ignoring people will not change what has happened nor will it face the challenges that lie ahead for me
I’ve got to face what happened and get on with my life, I know that’s what he would have wanted me to do.
I’ve got to be strong.

this is just a story and has no relation to my father

best time with a reliever

It was cold; although the sun on the horizon told me the day had the potential to be absolutely brilliant and sunny.
I was sitting with my back against the wall, the teacher was always late, which left the class I was in standing outside chatting and disrupting the other classes around them. Many times annoyed teachers had found there way into the classroom and let us wait inside for our teacher to come.
Finally the door opened and a raging rush of students would squeeze through the door and take there seats.
The thing that I find most strange in a class with no seating plan is that even thou there isn’t one the students tended to make there own by always sitting in the same seats.
I settled into my own mentally allocated seat and pulled out my math book. (We were doing algebra yuck, but to my surprise I was actually O.K at it)
When I looked up I saw we had a reliever and all our work had been scrawled across the board.
I got up and walked slowly over to where the books were kept, this was routine, the people who also sat at my table rarely did anything at all excepted copy off me. This irritated me like rash that you no you’re not supposed to scratch but you do it any way. My question is how do you say no? I didn’t have a clue I just told myself that it wasn’t me who was going to get the bad marks for most of my exams.
Things were going normally plenty of talking a few bits of paper flung across the room, but people were getting a good amount of work done.
“You have been working extremely well, so I’ve decided to take you all out for a game” informed the reliever.
Who never actually told us her name?
The classes walked slowly outside and listened to the instructions.
As we began to play I let my mind wander in to what our original teacher would have thought if she saw us playing a game. It was very difficult to think what she would do? How would she handle it?
Would she leave or make us go inside to finish off the lesson.
These silly little thoughts were washed completely from my mined when my turn came around to play the game.
There were two lines each with an equal amount of people number from one to thirteen and when your number is called you race against the person from the other side whose number matches yours. You race for an item in the middle and who ever can get it and get back to the line with out being tagged by the opposite player (The one who didn’t reach the item) is the winner.
It was a childish game, but fun to race against people from my class, better than math’s any day.
I enjoyed myself that math’s lesson, and I hope that one day it will happen again.
I promised myself that I would never forget that lesson and it will be filed in my brain for years and years to come.
Because of that reliever math’s was made interesting. Even thou I don’t know her name I will always remember her face and her short white afro that was growing from her head.

BARNEY

Barney is my bunny!
This is her first every winter, as I only got her last September.
She is fluffy in the puffy out way, with floppy ears. She’s white with grey splods, and has blue eyes.
Barney lives in a two-story hutch, and has heaps of different toys (My parents spoil her)
Barney is a very expensive rabby and so far has cost me over $450, but I believe its money well spent.
The thing that annoys me most about Barney is that at night she jumps from the top story to the bottom, making this huge crash on the wood that makes it really hard for me to sleep.
My dad acts as though he hates Barney and wants to cook her up in a stew but I know he loves her deep down.
The thing Barney hates most is bath time, she absolutely hates it, she cant stand the water. To keep her soft and fluffy she has to have a bath every 2 weeks. It’s quite funny after because she looks like a drowned rat with really really big feet.
Barney is enjoying autumn; she loves running around in a pile of leaves, and dodging them when they fall off the tree.
This is my bunny Barney she is super friendly and love to have all the attention, but that’s why we love her

something funny that happened in class

It was a day five, that meant my class had science first.
As usual we all lined up and walked in single file. My friend and I sat in seats located to the far left, right next to the periodic table.
The lesson dragged on (we were learning about atoms) and the teacher was using a meter ruler to point things out to answer students questions.
It was half way through the block, There this soft sound of humming in my ears. My guess was because of the rain. It was pouring outside, although the cold had wriggled its self inside permeating the room and everything it contained. Someone behind me asked a question about the different colors of the periodic table.
To answer that question the teacher crossed the room so he could point at the table. (I wasn’t looking; I was scribbling something down of the board)
When the teacher began to answer the question, he jabbed the chart with his meter ruler.
It collapsed. It fell straight down like a leave off a tree in autumn, and as it happens I was underneath.
Luckily my friend saw what was happening and caught it before it torn its self completely from the wall.
It took the teacher, my friend and I almost ten minutes to get the table back on the wall, with all its pins in the right places.
Although having a huge chart crash on top of us defiantly gave us something to laugh about.

Reps

Friday Interval, loud students surrounded us closing us in with help of the dull colored.
It was a sunny day; I was awaiting a fateful txt that would confirm, if I had been selected.
Bouncy, excited energy was pushing against my heart, so hard that it hurt. My stomach held up by a thread that could snap at any moment, the queasy feeling that would follow depended on the content of the message.
BEEP! BEEP!The lifeless tune sounded the arrival of a txt the excited thudding against my heart was getting faster and faster, as I pulled my cell phone out.
The thread snapped!
The pushing against my heart stopped!
All the breath in my body was gone I felt winded.
My finger made its slow movement towards the middle button of my cell.
I was curious did I really want to know what was hidden in the message.
My brain was fighting with itself fear and excited racing all around.
It tried to decide what to do all in a split moment

I pressed the button…….

It was real……
I had made it………
I was in……..

As the fog lifted....I saw a huge towering dome, that made even the largest building look small. The huge thing, made of metal and glass, so opposing, so frightening. If or when you got up the courage to go inside the door was almost impossible to find.Once I found the door, you needed certain identification to get through and into the institute within, this was an easier way for staff to find out which people were in class and who wasn't,I thought as I picked up a brochure. How did I get here I wondered, The last thing I remember before being here was, I was in the girls bathrooms at school with my friends. The next thing I knew the rest of the girls were banging on the door, it seemed that we had been locked in. We left Haley at the door to call for anyone that could help us, while the rest of us looked around for a way out of here, as all the bathrooms seem to smell really bad and have spitballs on the ceilings. Some girls were trying to open the windows, that seemed jammed shut, I didn't have any job so i was running my hand along the walls to see if I would get inspired, but instead I fell through one of them and thats how I got here. Wherever here is.I walked into this huge expanse of space, huge buildings towering over everyoneThe thing that struck me was how everything looked cold, sterile, like even a dirty thought would detain you.Teenagers whizzing by on some sort of hovering contraption, a silver disk they stood on,with handlebars hovering in the cleched hand of the rider.Everything was shiny metal, in the brochure it says that this domeis not just here for looks but it is an all weather environment,to help with less outside distractions to keep the pupils focus solely on their work.I couldn't help but feel nervous at how apposing everything was.As I turned to continue exploring, I saw a group of older boys, hiding under the stairs to a building smoking, thinking they were hidden. All of a sudden a hologram came seemingly out of thin air and surrounded the boys like a tornado.Looks of shock and fright covered the boys faces as they knew they had been caught red handed. As quickly as it had been there it was gone, the bouys were all looking very relieved, and thats when the ground fell from beneath them showing a hole that was so dark it seemed never-ending.Passing the classrooms, the pupils seemed engrosed with what the teacher was telling them, some even leaning or shuffling closer, afraid to miss even one word.As I looked again, I saw something quite strange, there was something wrong about the image I was seeing. The teacher, she seemed to be rippling with the slight breeze coming through the window, it had to be it, I had the best vision out of everyone I know.Yes, I said in my head as I checked again, that has to be it, she's a holo-gram.No one seemed to notice I was there until a strict looking teacher saw me and started walking straight for me. Hair done up in a severe bun on the back of her head, perfect, not a hair out of place, a black high waisted skirt and a white blouse, with high black stiletto heels, clicking along as she walks.I was so scared I froze. Stiff as a bored, too scared to move. Then my brain kicked in, I ran for the closest toilets I had hust walked past.Sprinting in my school shoes was a challenge in itself, I saw her gesture to something, then all of a sudden whirring filled the air, I ran faster knowing this wasn't going to end well.I finally reached it and slammed the door on my persuers, breathing hard, I sat down on one side of the room on a bench attached to the wall wondering what I should do now.I walked around the room dragging my fingers along the walls to try and calm my mind, what was not helping the calming was the constant and loud banging and thudding on the door.I continued to walk round.I tripped on something I hadn't seen, and fell, I put my hand up to catch the wall,But instead of holding myself up I fell straight through, leaving the splintering sound of wood as they had finally broken there way into the bathroom.Peace.Calm.Quiet.

dads reply to my thoughts of the english homework.

As I open the door again comes the triads of yelling daughter to mother. Deliberately I signal my arrival with heavy plods on the stairs quickly wrapping up my conversation with my boss so as not to embarrass either of us. The triads slows and stops as the daughter moves off turning her attention to her sister.
My wife greats me with a pretend “hello dear how was your day?” “not brilliant but better than yours by the sounds” I reply
How about a drink in the spa and a catch up.
She looks longingly in the direction but no’s she must cook tea as the horde have suggested we a staving them.

my friend

We share the same hobbies like shopping and netball, even though we are completely different. You always know if you played well or not because she always says her opinion even is where still on the court.
She always makes sure she is heard even if you don’t know if she is being sarcastic or not.
She turns boring situations into something fun and interesting no matter how evil it maybe.
She is fun and supportive, if your feeling sad, she is determined (like every thing else she puts her mined to) to turn the frown around no matter how long it takes her.
She is always good to be around.

MY DAD

The squeak of the door is the first sign that he is home, and all conversations come to a quick end as you hear the heavy plods of feet slowly dragging themselves up the stairs, you can hear a mumbling of one voice talking as if he had never left work. He wraps up the conversation and swiftly walks towards the phone were he places his mobile upon it to charge, when he turns around mother prepares herself for the night long explanation of who annoyed him throughout the day.

biking accident

Bang!

The shot gun fired and both he and I were caught by the moment of hesitation before we launched over the start line.

I had outstripped him by at least five meters, and was setting course from the downhill slope air was whistling past my ears even though it was a calm day I could ear the hollowly echo sound of the wind passing through me making my baggy clothes billow out like a parachute.

I reached the base of the slope, the force that I had acquired sent me flying , over a small upward hill, as I got higher and higher in to the air, my stomach flipped and I got this queasy feeling in its pit of it. The feeling was incredible I felt so high above every one else.

The flaky rusty bike suddenly jerked downwards and my sweaty palms lost control as it was ripped savagely away.

I hit the ground with a smack and a sharp pain jabbed up my arm it was like thousands of blunt pins being stabbed into one spot.

It is the perfect game for a rainy day, for it is just a more complicated game of trival purists.

My father and my sister came though to snatch the victory.

leaving

Becca slowly made her way down to the subway; she had had a difficult time trying to translate what the ticket assistant was saying while she was making her transaction.
She came down the escalator and let herself submerge into the crowd.
Becca decided she would call a substitute once she crossed between Britain and France, her boss would defiantly ask the subject of her trip, and would think that her submission to take a vacation was transparent non-existent, compared to the work load of files she needed to file, even if the vacation was only going to be transitory.
Becca was a doctor, the type that gives injections to transfuse blood into the veins of sick people.
Becca put these thoughts behind her as she new that her subordinate would handle things, and if he didn’t the subsequent would be disastrous.
This brought he thoughts came back as she realized what she was doing was very subversive, but she felt she had to transgress.
Maybe when she crossed the transverse line, she would also ask to transpose to somewhere new maybe that’s what she needed a new setting, she could permanently transmigrate to France, as well as this Becca decided to get a transfigure change herself completely.
Becca looked up and around the subway; it was subdivided into 4 parts each for a different direction (north, south, west, and east).
A transmission came across the screen the transmit said hat Becca’s train was next to leave.
Becca’s train pulled away from the station with transient, Becca promised herself
to be submissive if she felt the need to sleep, this is exactly what she did.

Rotorua

Yesterday I got back from Rotorua; I went there with my netball team to play in a tournament we won five games out of eight; the school also took the girls and boys basket ball teams.
In the mornings it was freezing and the same during the night, but in the day it was boiling. On Friday morning the first morning we were there the netballers had to prepare the food ( it was freezing) and the night before when Eve set her alarm to wake us up, ( It was for 6:15) the tune she set for us to wake to was mission impossible.
On Friday we played three games and won all but one, the team we lost to was Keri Keri.
On Saturday we played four games and lost to the tridents.
And on Sunday we played one team and lost they were new Plymouth girls high.
Overall I feel our team did fairly well and will make a strong team.

the nitrogen cycle

I am nitrogen and this is my story about going round the nitrogen cycle.
It all started when I was in this plant and all of a sudden I was ripped up and eaten, and I had to start my life all over again in the animal that just destroyed my home.
Just as I set up the poor creature dropped dead and as my mates bacteria and algae started to decompose it I slipped down into the ground where I was fixed by bacteria to be used by plants. Once this happened I waited patiently to be sucked up into another plant where I’ll stay in till the cycle starts again.

8 key facts about Nitrogen.

  1. Nitrogen makes up 80% of the earths atmosphere.
  2. Animals get there Nitrogen from plants the only animal able to fix Nitrogen is man.
  3. Nitrogen is one of the four main elements of life.
  4. No living cell can exists without Nitrogen.
  5. To complete the cycle bacteria in the soil carry out a process knowen as denifritication which converts nitrates back into nitrogen gas.
  6. Nitrogen in the air becomes apart of biological matter mostly through the actions of bacteria and alge in a process known as nitrogen fixation.
  7. Nitrogen will only react with oxgen in the presense of high temperates and pressures found near lightng bolts nitric oxide NO, and nitrogen dixocide NO2, are formed under these conditons.
  8. Eventually Nirogen dixocide may react with water in rain to form Niric acid HNO3 this is used by plants as nutriants.

How to buy a car (today)

Hi I’m Billy T James and after some freaky flash of light, I have come back from the dead and landed in some strange futuristic world, and I’ve noticed some flash cars zooming around here, so I’m going to get up of some of my old tricks, and show you fellows how to get a car for cheaper than what it is.
First things first we’ve gottta find a car sale yard and the car you want, swap the sign with the price for a cheaper car. Hang on a sec the price is a sticker, ok the first step does matter; let’s move straight on to step number two. Finding the right car sales men, and there seems to be no one, we’ll just pick this guy here.
“Oi there I wanna buy this car but there’s a leak can I get a discount for it.
“I assure you sir all our cars are in top condition and there is no need to discount them”.
“Well I just won’t buy it then”“You do that sir”
“These future heads are really hard cases to crack, im sure they haven’t heard the three easy steps on how to speak Chinese.

A series of unfortunate events

This book reveiw is on "A series of unfortune events" the 6th one, it is called The Ersatz Elevator and is my favorite one of the series it is by Lemony Snicket, and he tells the story or the story is told from his point of veiw and he also winds himself into the story so it gives you the feeling that soome of it may be true.

I like the way Lemony Snicket describes his writing, specially when the children are push down a elevator shaft, he left two pages coloured in black ink just two show how dark it was., these pages were pg numbers 182 and 183.

The story is about three rich children who's lives are tragicly changed when there parents are killed in a house fire and they are taken in by a relation of so thats what they carer Mr Poe thought. this relation was Count Olaf and he was plotting to steal the forrtune of the orphans and use it for himself, everytime he comes up with new disguises to trick the orphans, but he never has.
In the book prior to this one thats book five the orphans were at a bording school where they thwarted Count Olaf's plans, but unfortunately he was able to escape with there friends who had, had similar experiences with there parents, but they thought there brother who was they triplet had died in the fire to. In this book they orphans try to escape from Count Olaf as well try to rescue there friends from his cluthes. They also come across something called V.F.D that they may or may not find out what it means.

At the end of the books there is a little blurb that tells you about the next book and a very random way in which the Editoris to come across Lemony's latests writings.

I recomended this book and this series for they are highly interesting.

Creeping and crawling bringing rumors about.
Spreding and sharing all the sercerts out.

You may know some people like this.
As you know they are not easily missed.
They creep aroud looking for prey.
For someone to pick on during the day.

They find this fun. I find it cruel.
And yet, these beastly people rule.
This is story from the geek side of life.
The buillies and the big making the strife.

One click from danger

One click from danger, is a you tube video of the danger of putting personal information on to the web such as your phone number where you live and where you go to school and your first and last name as well as a photo.

The video was about how you could be tracked down by a Pedophile and how easy it was and that there is always back doors to things so blocks dont always work.

This particuler you tube video tells us how a certain pedophile tracked down young girls from ages 11-15 and it tell us how he approached them and made them feel scared, These girls new that what he was doing was strange, so doing the smart thing in there situation they went to there parents who took no time in to contact the police who started a full scale man hunt to find the pedophile, they found the pedophile in the end but the main point of the clip is that you should never, ever, ever, put personal information on the net because there are always back doors and blocks are just extra security and there will always be a way thourgh them.

An interesting fact that I discover through watching this video is that over 3/4 of the children who had personal information on there Bebo or Myspace acconts, parents DID NOT KNOW about it. It is also strange that the 1/4 of the children parents who knew that there children did have personal infomation on there Bebo or Myspacce acconts didnt get them to change it or take it off.
The reson my parents do not allow me to have a Bebo or a Myspace is because of all the dangers of being hunted down.(only just persuaded my parents to get MSN)

The Lion

I thought it might be time to post another poem and this one I thought was really cool it's by Roald Dahl.

The lion just adores to eat
a lot of red and tender meat
and if you ask the lion what
is much tenderest of the lot?
he will not say a roast of lamb
or curried beef or deviled ham
or crispy pork or corned beef hash
or sausages or mutton mash.
then could it be a big plump hen
he answers not What is it then?
oh lion dear could i not make
you happy with a lovely steak
could i entice you from lair
with rabbit pie or roasted hare
the lion smiled and shook his head
he came up very close and said
the meat that im about to chew
is neither steak or chops its YOU.

Heaps of people have heard this poem before but i enjouyed reading it because it was funny and i felt like you get a rythm going

Journey of carbon

I am Carbon and this is a story of my journey around the world, with the help of my trusty friend the Carbon cycle.

It all started when the plant I was stored in was rather savagely ripped apart by an animal, and in this beast I stayed untiil it died and I ran into my old friends bacteria and fungi, then after there short visit I traveled down and stored myself comfortabley in the ground only to then find myself beung sucked up into a plant, I satyed here until then again the plant I was in was eaten by some other creature, then released into the air when it respired, which means that I was shot up into the air. There was where I floated for a while before being made photosythsis with my old buddy sunlight, so I was safly transported back into a plant until some other savage beast wants to eat it, and then I would have to start the journey again.

Report

I just thought this peom was funny. the writer is unkowen.

According to your school report
You drive the students nut's
and members of the teaching staff
Sincerely hate your guts.

You crept into the science lab
And opened all the cages
So rats were running everywhere
For absolutely ages.

The principal despises you
For blowing up the gym
And pushing in the swimming pool
A girl who couldn't swim.

You broke into the dormitory
And bounced on all the beds
And when the teachers came for you,
Played hopscotch on their heads.

They think you are a crimmal
And shouldn't be allowed.
Congratulations little one
You've made us very proud.

War

This is a fiction story about young girl from England’s involvement in the Second World War. (1939-1945)

This young girl was named Madeleine Finney, but her close relatives and friends called her Maddie.
Maddie lived in the outskirts of London with her mother and father.
Maddie’s mother, Katie was a waitress at there local diner and worked the day shift from nine till five, then she would return home prepare dinner for her family and do the house chores.
Maddie’s father, Jack was a pilot, it was his job to fly low over the crops of farmers to water them and he was sometimes used to spot stray cows that had wondered off at night, he was also a trick pilot and gave tourists rides. Jack would leave at six in the morning and be back around six in the evening.
Maddie worked in London at a barbers shop, ever morning at seven, except on Sundays Maddie would take the families farm truck and drive for around forty-five minutes to get to the barbers (which opened at eight) work there until four then drive home and assist her mother Katie with the house chores.
The first unfortunate event for the Finney family happened on a quite evening rather close to Maddies 18th birthday.
They was a knock on the door and Katie rose and made her way down the hall, when she returned however she was not alone.
With Maddies mother, was a man, he was in a dull green uniform and stood tall and straight. Maddie could tell that this man was involved with war; by the clolour and style of his uniform and the look on her mothers face told her that something wasn't right.
“Maddie go check the chickens are all locked in right we don’t want the foxes to get them” said Maddies mother.
And being the good girl they had raised her to be, she stood up and walk out the door to check on the chickens without a word of disagreement.
When she returned to the house her father had gone to sleep and her mother was doing the dishes.
Maddie went over to help, she didn’t ask any questions about the man in the uniform because she knew that she would get lies or she would just be ignored.
After doing the dishes Maddie went to bed wonder about the night’s events, wondering if something in her family was about to change.
Maddie woke early on the Sunday morning and went out to collect the chicken eggs for breakfast when she return her father was sitting at the table all packed as if he was going on a huge trip and wouldn’t be back for a long time.
When Maddie enter carrying in basket of eggs, he looked up and smiled as if nothing was wrong.
“Maddie” he began.
“Sit down, just listen don’t interrupt me, because this is important and you need to her it. I’m leaving to day and im going to a special facility to fight the Germans, its going to be ok im only going for about a year, and you can write to me from here.”
Maddie was speechless so many things were racing though her mind she was angry with her father and the uniformed officer, she was also scared. What if her father never came back what if the whole country was attacked.
Maddie was brought back from the troubles that were in her head by a knock at the door she stood up to answer it but her father stood up to and carrying his huge bag he left the house with out another word.
It had only taken Maddie 30mins to realise what she had to do. She had to become a nurse and go to war herself and make sure her father was ok, then right there and then she knew that she had to work fast she ran up stairs and packed her bags then she wrote a note to her mother to explain what she had done and why. The only thing she didn’t tell her was where she was going and what she was going to do, because she didn’t want her mother to come looking for her or to try and stop her.
And with that she ran out to the car and started to drive out of the drive way thinking of what in would be like to become a nurse.
Maddie drove into London; she knew that the war building was on the other side of the city, at that there was a good chance she would find out how to become a nurse there.
Maddie arrived at the building parked and quickly walked inside. There was an old man with thick white hair, smoking a cigar, sitting behind the small wooden desk looking though some official looking documents.
Maddie walked up to the man with surprising confidents.
“I would like to become a nurse in the war” Maddie informed clearly.
The old man sighed and mover around a few more papers until he found the one that he wanted.
“O.K then what would your name be then?” replied the old man.
“And how old are you?”
“My name is Madeleine Finney and I am 21yrs old” Maddie lied
“O.K then just carry on through there and you will find the dormitories to the left your door number is 15 and you will be sharing with three other girls the time table for your classes will be on the wall, here is a map of the grounds so you don’t get lost, classes start at 7:00am sharp, you will be ask some more questions later.
“Stunned at how easy that was Maddie slowly walked through the door wondering what her dorm would be like?

This is my work in process its nt quitte finshed in fact its a long way off but i thought some of you would like to read what i've got so far

When I was 5

When i was five years old, the year ws 1998 , we were living here in Whangaparoa, right next to the school.
The school was called Stanmore Bay Primary, and my teacher was called Mrs Wild.
I was short with brown curly hair, with an evil grin. I usally wore jeans and coloured tops or a dress.
What was really in at the time for the 5 year olds were these toy dolls and toy bears you could sribble all over them with a pen then you put them in the wash and there all clean again.
What i can remeber about my 5th birthday was i was at kindergarten and in was wearing my big hat thay said 5 and i fanited for about 2 seconds because of all of the excitment of the party. We did finger painting and played in my favourite swing.
This was one of the tasks in English today.

I am Crystasl Meth

I thought this poem was very powerful with its wording it made my spine shiver when i finshed it, this was apart of my year eight poem project:

I AM CRYSTAL METH (P)

I destory homes, i tear families apart,
take your children and thats just the start.
I'm more costly then dimonds, more precious than gold.
The sorrow i bring is a sight to behold.

If you need me, remeber! I'm easily found,
I live all around you - in schools and in town.
I live with the rich; I live with the poor.
I live down the street, and maybe next door.

I'm made in a lab, but not like you think.
I can be made under the kitchen sink.
In your childs closet, and even in the woods.
If this scares you to death, that it certanly should.

I have many names, but there's one you know best,
i'm sure you've heard of me, my name is crystal meth.
My power is awsome; try me you'll see,
but if you do you may never break free.

Just try me once and i might let you go,
but try me twice, and i'll own your soul.
When i possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie.
you'll do wat you can just to get high.

The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms,
will be worth the peasure you'll feel in your arms. ( your lungs and your nose)
You'll lie to your mother; you'll steal from your dad,
When you see there tears YOU should feel sad.

But you will forget your morals, and how you were rasied.
I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways.
I'll take kids from parents and parents from kids,
I turn people from God, and separate friends.

I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride,
I'll be with you always-right by your side.
You'll give up everything-your family your home,
Your friends and your money, and then you'll be alone.

I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give.
When i'm finshed with you, you'll be lucky to live.
If you try me be warned-this is no game.
If given the chance I'll drive you insane.

I'll ravish your boby; I'll control your mind.
I'll own you completely; your soul will be mine
The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed.
The voices you'll hear, from inside your head.

The sweats, the shakes, and the visions you'll see.
I want you to know, these are all gifts from me.
But then it's to late you'll know in your heart.
That you are mine, and we shall not part.

You'll regret that you tried me they always do.
But you came to me, not i to you.
You knew this would happen, many times you were told.
But you challenged my power, and choose to be bold.

You could have said no, and just walked away.
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
I'll be your master; you will be my slave
I'll even go with you, when you go to the grave.

Now that you have met me, what will you do?
Will you try me or not, It's all up to you.
Ican bring you more misery than words can tell.
Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.

Science story of the water particle

I am a little water particle. I started my journey when i was evaporated from the sea in which i was collected with my fellow water particles, the sun is what caused me and my friends to rise from the water and soar towards the sky. We were taken high up and taken to rest in a cloud this is called condensation. We stayed in the cloud for a while till it got to full then something humans call predipation, which means it rains and we are forced to plummet towards the ground. We droped in to a large lake where again we where collected, ready to make the trip again, again and again.
This is what we did in science today when we learnt about the water cycle.

Flowers in the Attic

This is the is a book reveiw of the book flowers in the attic.
This is a book writen by Virginia Andrews.
Virginia Andrews lived in portsmouth, Virginia, was born in 1933.
Flowers in the attic was the first novel. It is based on a true story, of four children locked in an attic for nearly four years. Its sequels are petals in the wind and if there be thorns. all of these books have be successful.

This story starts traically as the childrens father is killed in a accident and they are forced to move out of there house. There mother decided to move back with her wealthy parents who had disowed her after her marrige. The children chirs, cathy, carrie and cory are forced to live in a attic while there mother tries to win back the affection of her father whilst keeping the children a secret from every one but her grandmother, gradully there mother forgot about her children.

The story is told from Cathy the second oldest at the age of 12, point of view, it is writen in past tense so it is made like she herself is telling the story: This is the first paragraph of the prologue, on how she felt about hope and a bit of what she felt while she was locked in the attic.

"It is so appropriate to colour hope yellow, like that sun we seldom saw. and as i begin to copy from the old memorandum journals that i kept for so long, a title comes as if inspired. open the window and stand in the sunshine. Yet i hesitatte to name our story that. For i think us more as flowers in the attic. paper flowers, born so brightly coloured, and fading duller through all those long, grim, dreary, nightmarish days when we were held prisoners of hope, and kept captives by greed. but, we were never to colour even one of our paper blossoms yellow."
to me flowers in the attic was a story of change, lies, trust, and betrayal all between one family, the children must hold on to what little hope they have as well as each other.

these are some of my favourite poems:

Mr Bell
Mr Bell would mown his lawn.
Every single day at dawn.
Though the neighbors begged for peace.
Mr Bell refused to cease.
Finally the neighbors flipped.
Now the lawn remains uncliped.
And the bones of Mr Bell.
Fertilise it rather well.

Freaks
My fathers feet have thirteen toes he thinks its rather fine.
My mothers even happier for she has twenty-nine.
My sister has a hundred toes all growing in a line.
While uncle paul has none at all just lobster claws like mine.
Both of these were by Doug Macleod
